Policy on Phone Calls & E-Mails

I wanted to let everyone know my policy on returning phone calls and e-mail’s during Session. I would ask everyone that calls or writes me about a matter to include their phone number and where they live (just the town associated with your zip code is fine).

My goal is to always offer timely responses to everyone in the District, the goal is to get back to you in working day or less. This policy applies to everyone in Calhoun, Ouachita, and Union counties.

If you live in one of the other 72 counties in Arkansas I will respond when I can if I can. I often unable to respond to any requests from outside the District as the residents of House District #7 come first. If you are from outside my District I would encourage you to reach out to your individual member of the Arkansas House of Representatives.

My First Law Passed

Act 127 of 2013 to offer Quorum Courts more options in their organizational setup has become law. Thanks to my co-sponsors. Remembering Dr. King

I hope that every year we stop and pause and realize how far we have come in the advances we have made improving civil rights. Today we memorialize Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as a tireless civil rights leader slain as he advocated non-violence. Let us continue to follow his lead in promoting an America that is free of racial strife but full of racial equality.

Rep. Baine appointed to Joint Energy

I appreciate the confidence displayed in me by Mr. Speaker Davy Carter with my appointment today to Joint Energy. District #7 is rich in natural resources and demands members dedicated to developing policies that promote private development that creates good paying jobs in south Arkansas.

The official charge of the committee is:

“The committee shall make continuing studies of energy resources and problems, either initiated by the committee or referred to it by either house of the General Assembly. The committee shall exercise leadership in energy related areas which relate to the conservation, development and use of energy resources. The committee shall cooperate with the Governor, with the federal government and including participation in regional and national meetings and seminars of state and federal officials in the exchange of information and data on energy resources, supplies, reserves and in the conservation storage and use of energy, including the disposal of energy waste and by-products. (A.C.A. 10-3-820)”

Arkansas House of Representatives on AETN-3

The 89^th Arkansas House of Representatives will be broadcast live on AETN-3 with the opening session today at Noon. It will be broadcast over the air on KETZ 12-3 in El Dorado. Cable companies Cam-Tel in Camden on channel 252 and all Suddenlink subscribers in the district on channel 702. Currently Dish Network and DirecTV do not carry AETN-3.

District Office

I wanted you to know I have established a district office in Room 200 of the Union County Courthouse in downtown El Dorado. The space can be reached by taking the elevator to the second floor and it is the second office on your right, just past the Circuit Clerk’s Office.

The plan is to use it to facilitate meetings with the residents of District #7 and as a workspace for an intern program I am developing. All meetings are by appointment, you can reach me at (870) 862-2002.
